Gus Grissom

Gus Grissom was an American astronaut and a pioneer in space exploration. He was one of the original Mercury Seven astronauts selected in the 1960s, helping to develop human spaceflight. Grissom flew in the first American manned space mission, Mercury-Redstone 4, and later commanded Gemini 3, stepping closer to moon landings. Tragically, he died in the Apollo 1 fire during a pre-launch test in 1967. Known for his skill and dedication, Grissom's work significantly contributed to the United States’ advancements in space technology and exploration.
