Gullies

Gullies are narrow, steep-sided channels carved into the soil or rock by the erosive action of flowing water, often after heavy rainfall. They form when surface runoff concentrates and rapidly removes loose material, creating distinct, linear features that can deepen and widen over time. Gullies can affect land stability, hinder farming, and contribute to soil loss. They are a natural part of landscape erosion but can become more prominent due to land use changes, deforestation, or poor land management. Proper land conservation practices are essential to prevent or reduce gully formation.
