Guitar tablature
Guitar tablature, or tab, is a visual notation system that represents guitar music in a simple, easy-to-read format. It displays six horizontal lines, each corresponding to a guitar string, with the top line representing the high E string and the bottom line the low E string. Numbers on these lines indicate the fret to press, showing precisely where to place your fingers on the neck. Tablature focuses on fingering positions rather than musical notation like notes and rhythms, making it accessible for players to learn melodies, riffs, and chords quickly without prior music theory knowledge.
