Guerra de la Independencia
The Guerra de la Independencia, or Spanish War of Independence (1808-1814), was a conflict where Spanish civilians and insurgents fought against Napoleonic France to regain control of Spain. Napoleon's France had placed his brother on the Spanish throne, prompting widespread resistance. The war involved guerrilla tactics, traditional battles, and widespread popular support, ultimately leading to the expulsion of French forces and the restoration of Spanish sovereignty. It was a pivotal event in Latin America's fight for independence, inspiring other colonies to seek self-rule, and contributed significantly to the decline of Napoleonic influence in Europe.
