GTPase

GTPase is a type of enzyme that acts like a molecular switch inside cells. It binds to a molecule called GTP (guanosine triphosphate), and when it has GTP attached, it’s 'on' and can perform specific functions. It then often flips to an 'off' state by removing the GTP and turning into GDP (guanosine diphosphate). This switching mechanism helps cells regulate processes like growth, movement, and communication. GTPases are essential for many cellular activities and are tightly controlled to ensure proper cell function and health.
