GST inhibitors

GST inhibitors are substances that block the activity of Glutathione S-transferases (GSTs), enzymes that help protect cells from damage by neutralizing harmful chemicals and toxins. By inhibiting GSTs, these agents can increase the vulnerability of cancer cells to chemotherapy or reduce their ability to resist treatment. They are studied for potential use in cancer therapy to improve drug effectiveness. However, because GSTs also protect healthy cells, inhibiting them must be carefully balanced to avoid unwanted side effects.
