Gruffudd ap Cynan

Gruffudd ap Cynan was a Welsh prince born around 1055 who played a significant role in the history of Wales. He became King of Gwynedd, a region in north Wales, in 1081 and is remembered for his resistance against Norman invasions and for uniting various Welsh factions to strengthen Welsh independence. His reign marked the resurgence of Welsh identity and nationalism during a time of external threats. Gruffudd is also notable for his lineage, being the descendant of earlier Welsh kings, and he laid the groundwork for future rulers in Wales. He died in 1137.
