Growing Pains

Growing pains are common, mild aches or throbbing sensations experienced in children’s legs, often in the calves, thighs, or behind the knees, typically occurring in the late afternoon or evening. They are not caused by injury or activity but are believed to result from the natural growth process, muscle fatigue, or heightened sensitivity in children’s developing nervous systems. These pains usually resolve on their own, and can be alleviated with gentle massage, stretching, or warm baths. If pains are severe, persistent, or accompanied by other symptoms like swelling or limping, consulting a healthcare provider is recommended.
