Group of Five Conferences
The Group of Five Conferences refers to five NCAA Division I college football conferences: the American Athletic Conference, Conference USA, Mid-American Conference, Mountain West Conference, and Sun Belt Conference. These conferences are considered less prominent than the Power Five (ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12, SEC) and typically have smaller budgets and less national media coverage. However, they still compete at a high level and often produce competitive teams and players. Occasionally, a team from a Group of Five conference can earn an invitation to the New Year’s Six bowl games or even compete for the national championship, highlighting their significance.
