Group of Eight (G8)
The Group of Eight (G8) was an international forum consisting of eight of the world's largest advanced economies: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It aimed to promote economic stability, cooperation, and political dialogue among these nations. The G8 met annually to discuss global issues like trade, security, and climate change. In 2014, Russia's suspension led to the G8 becoming the G7, focusing on the remaining seven countries. The group serves as a platform for high-level discussions but does not have binding decision-making authority.
