Groundhog

A groundhog, also known as a woodchuck, is a rodent belonging to the marmot family. It’s a medium-sized mammal native to North America, characterized by its stout body, short legs, and burrowing habits. Groundhogs hibernate during winter and emerge in spring. They are primarily herbivores, feeding on grasses, vegetables, and fruits. The Groundhog Day tradition, where a groundhog’s behavior predicts the arrival of spring, is based on the belief that if it sees its shadow, winter will continue for six more weeks; if not, spring is early.
