Groenland (Greenland)
Greenland is the world’s largest island, located between the Arctic and Atlantic Oceans and part of the Kingdom of Denmark. It has a sparse population focused mainly along the coast, with most of its interior covered by an ice sheet that contains about 8% of the world’s freshwater. The landscape features glaciers, fjords, and tundra, supporting limited but vital ecosystems. Greenland’s economy is based on fishing, hunting, and some mining. Despite political ties to Denmark, it has autonomous self-government, with increasing interest in sustainable development and climate research due to its rapidly changing ice cover and global climate impact.
