grid-group theory

Grid-group theory is a framework that explains how individuals and societies categorize themselves and others based on two dimensions: "grid," which measures how much a society emphasizes rules, structure, and hierarchy; and "group," which assesses the level of collective identity and loyalty among members. Combining these dimensions results in four cultural types: hierarchies, egalitarian groups, individualists, and fatalists. This model helps us understand societal behavior, value systems, and conflicts by analyzing how different groups prioritize order, communal ties, or independence.
