Grenville Orogeny
The Grenville Orogeny was a major mountain-building event that occurred around 1.3 to 1 billion years ago, involving the collision and convergence of ancient landmasses. This process caused rocks to fold, uplift, and form large mountain ranges in what is now eastern North America and other parts of the world. It played a key role in assembling a supercontinent called Rodinia and significantly shaped Earth's crust during the Proterozoic Eon. The remnants of this orogeny are still visible today in ancient mountain ranges and geological formations, providing insights into Earth's geological history.
