Greenstick Fracture

A greenstick fracture is a type of bone injury that occurs when a bone bends and cracks, similar to how a green twig breaks. It typically happens in children because their bones are softer and more flexible than adults. Instead of breaking completely into separate pieces, the bone splinters or cracks on one side while remaining intact on the other. This fracture usually results from a fall or direct impact. Treatment involves immobilizing the area, often with a cast, to allow the bone to heal properly. Greenstick fractures generally heal well with proper care.
