Green Mountain Boys
The Green Mountain Boys were a militia organization from the New Hampshire Grants region, now Vermont, active in the late 1700s. They fought to defend the area from New York land claims and were instrumental during the American Revolution, notably capturing Fort Ticonderoga in 1775. Led by Ethan Allen, they aimed to protect local settlers' rights and independence. Their efforts contributed significantly to Vermont's eventual statehood and are remembered as a key part of early American frontier history.
