Green Card Lottery (Diversity Visa Lottery)
The Green Card Lottery, officially called the Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery, is a U.S. government program that grants eligible individuals from countries with low immigration rates a chance to apply for permanent residence in the U.S. Through a random computerized selection process, winners receive Diversity Visas, allowing them to live and work in the United States. The program aims to diversify the immigrant population. Applicants must meet certain education or work experience requirements and submit an application during a designated annual registration period. It’s free to enter, but selection is entirely random.
