Green Books
Green Books are a series of travel guides published in the mid-20th century aimed at helping Black travelers navigate safely and confidently through racially segregated America. They provided practical information on friendly accommodations, restaurants, and businesses that welcomed Black customers, along with tips on avoiding discrimination and ensuring safety. Often referred to as "The Green Book," the publication was essential during a time when racial segregation and discrimination limited access to many services for Black Americans. These guides are now recognized as important historical documents illustrating both the challenges and resilience of Black communities.
