Greater Hungary

Greater Hungary refers to the historical territorial extent of the Kingdom of Hungary before its borders changed in the 20th century, especially after World War I. It encompassed not only present-day Hungary but also large parts of neighboring countries like Slovakia, Romania, Serbia, and Ukraine, where Hungarian communities lived. After treaties like Trianon in 1920, Hungary lost much of this land, reducing its territory significantly. The term is often used to describe this former multicultural empire, emphasizing Hungary's historical dominance and diverse population across Central and Eastern Europe before border changes reshaped the region.
