Great Siege
The Great Siege refers to a historic conflict, most famously the Siege of Malta in 1565, where the Ottoman Empire attempted to capture the island from the Knights of St. John. The Ottomans fiercely attacked the fortified city, but the defenders held out through strategic planning, strong fortifications, and determination. After months of intense combat, the Ottomans eventually retreated. The siege demonstrated the resilience of the defenders and marked a significant event in Mediterranean history, influencing balance of power and Christian defenses against Ottoman expansion.
