Great Hornbill
The Great Hornbill, also known as the Great Indian Hornbill, is a large and striking bird native to the forests of South and Southeast Asia. It measures about 3 feet long, with a massive yellow and black casque (a hollow casque sits atop its long, curved bill), bright white neck, and bold black and white wings. The bird plays an important role in its ecosystem by spreading fruit seeds. Known for its impressive appearance and loud calls, it is considered a symbol of wisdom and prosperity in some cultures, and is currently listed as Near Threatened due to habitat loss.
