Great Arab Revolt (1936-1939)
The Great Arab Revolt (1936-1939) was a nationalist uprising by Arab Palestinians and neighboring Arab populations against British colonial rule and increasing Jewish immigration in Palestine. Motivated by the desire for independence, sovereignty, and opposition to Jewish settlement, the revolt involved protests, strikes, and guerrilla warfare against British forces and infrastructure. It reflected Arab frustration over limited political control and fears of losing land to Jewish immigrants. The revolt was ultimately suppressed, but it significantly influenced future Arab resistance and shaped the region’s evolving conflicts over land and independence.
