Gravity Filtration
Gravity filtration is a process used to separate solid particles from liquids using gravity. A mixture is poured into a filter, such as filter paper or a funnel with a suitable filter medium. Gravity pulls the liquid through the filter, trapping the solid particles on the filter surface. The clear liquid, called filtrate, collects below, while the solid residue remains on the filter. This method is simple, relies on gravity instead of external pressure, and is commonly used in laboratories for purifying liquids or removing suspensions safely and efficiently.
