Granzyme

Granzyme is a protein produced by certain immune cells, called cytotoxic T cells and natural killer (NK) cells, which helps the body fight infections and cancer. When these immune cells identify a harmful cell, they release granzyme directly onto it. Granzyme then enters the target cell and triggers its self-destruction by activating internal processes. This targeted approach ensures that the immune system efficiently eliminates infected or cancerous cells without damaging nearby healthy tissue. In essence, granzyme acts as a specialized tool that helps immune cells remove cells that pose a threat to the body.
