Granular activated carbon
Granular activated carbon (GAC) is a porous, charcoal-like material used to purify liquids and gases. Its large surface area allows it to effectively trap impurities, contaminants, and odors through a process called adsorption—where substances stick to the surface. Commonly used in water treatment, air purification, and industrial processes, GAC removes harmful chemicals, organic compounds, and pollutants, improving taste, odor, and safety. It is durable, reusable after certain treatment, and a natural, chemical-free method of filtration.
