Granma (the yacht)
Granma was the yacht used by Fidel Castro and his revolutionaries to secretly travel from Mexico to Cuba in 1956, initiating their guerrilla campaign against the Batista government. It was a sturdy, modest vessel that enabled plans to be kept hidden, ensuring a swift and clandestine crossing across the Gulf of Mexico. The journey marked the beginning of the Cuban Revolution, leading to significant political change in Cuba. Today, the Granma is preserved as a national symbol and museum, representing the revolutionary spirit and the strategic planning behind Cuba’s transformation.
