Grand Duke Michael

Grand Duke Michael was a Russian aristocrat and the youngest son of Emperor Alexander III. In 1917, during the Russian Revolution, he was briefly proclaimed Emperor after his brother, Nicholas II, abdicated. However, Michael declined the throne, leading to the end of the imperial monarchy in Russia. He played a lesser-known role in Russian history, mainly as a symbol of the monarchy's collapse. Throughout his life, he was involved in military and naval service, and later, he stepped back from political life, eventually living in exile until his death in 1918.
