Grand Coulee Dam

Grand Coulee Dam is a large concrete dam on the Columbia River in Washington State. It was built to provide hydroelectric power, irrigation, and flood control. The dam generates electricity by using flowing water to turn turbines, producing enough energy to supply millions of homes and businesses. It also creates a vast reservoir, known as Banks Lake, which stores water for irrigation and other purposes. Completed in the 1940s, it is one of the largest concrete structures in the world and an important part of the Pacific Northwest’s infrastructure, supporting economic development and environmental management in the region.
