Graft selection
Graft selection refers to choosing the most suitable tissue or blood vessel (graft) for surgical procedures like bypass surgeries or transplants. The goal is to pick a graft that will reliably connect to healthy blood vessels, providing proper blood flow while minimizing rejection or complications. Factors considered include the graft’s size, flexibility, durability, and compatibility with the patient's body. Common choices include blood vessels from the patient’s own body, such as the saphenous vein or internal mammary artery, evaluated to ensure the best long-term outcome for the patient.
