Graded-index Fiber

A graded-index fiber is a type of optical fiber designed to improve light transmission. It has a core with a gradual change in the refractive index—from high at the center to lower at the edges. This structure causes light rays bouncing inside to follow a curved path, which helps them travel more evenly and reduces signal loss. As a result, data can be transmitted faster and over longer distances with less distortion. Graded-index fibers are commonly used in telecommunications and data networks due to their efficiency in carrying large amounts of information reliably.
