Governor-General of French India

The Governor-General of French India was the official head of the French colonial administration in the Indian territories controlled by France, such as Pondicherry, during the period of French rule. Appointed by France, the Governor-General managed local governance, represented French interests, and maintained order. Although they operated under the authority of the French government, their role was key in overseeing administrative, legal, and diplomatic matters within French India until it was integrated into India in the 1950s.
