Gougerot-Sajous syndrome
Gougerot-Sajous syndrome is a rare autoimmune disorder characterized by inflammation of the small blood vessels (vasculitis), leading to skin rashes, joint pain, and sometimes nerve or kidney issues. It often involves a skin condition called purpura—purple spots caused by broken blood vessels—and may be associated with other autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis or lupus. The exact cause is unknown, but it involves the immune system mistakenly attacking blood vessel walls. Diagnosis is based on clinical features and blood tests, and treatment usually includes corticosteroids or immunosuppressive medications to reduce inflammation and control symptoms.
