Goryeo
Goryeo was a Korean dynastic kingdom that existed from 918 to 1392, known for unifying the Korean Peninsula after periods of division. It is the origin of the modern name "Korea." Goryeo was notable for its advances in culture, art, and technology, including the development of celadon ceramics and the creation of the Tripitaka Koreana, an extensive Buddhist scripture collection. The kingdom maintained strong diplomatic and trade links with neighboring countries, especially China and the Middle East. Despite internal struggles and invasions, Goryeo left a lasting cultural legacy, influencing Korean identity and history until it was succeeded by the Joseon Dynasty.
