Gorilla (Gorilla spp.)
Gorillas are large primates native to Central Africa, belonging to the species Gorilla spp. They are the largest living primates, characterized by their robust builds, strong muscles, and distinctive silver-gray hair on their backs, which gives rise to the term "silverback" for mature males. Gorillas are highly intelligent, social animals living in groups called troops led by a dominant male. They primarily eat leaves, stems, fruits, and bamboo. Despite their impressive size, they are gentle creatures with complex behaviors and communication methods, but they face threats from habitat loss and poaching, making them critically endangered.
