Gomti River
The Gomti River is a significant waterway flowing through northern India, particularly through the city of Lucknow. It originates from the Pilibhit district in Uttar Pradesh and travels about 960 kilometers before joining the Ghaghara River. The river sustains local agriculture, supports biodiversity, and provides water for daily use. Unfortunately, it faces pollution from industrial waste, sewage, and urban runoff, which threaten its health and the communities relying on it. Efforts are underway to improve water quality and preserve the river’s ecological balance, recognizing its importance for the region’s environment, economy, and cultural heritage.
