Goldfields Water Supply Scheme

The Goldfields Water Supply Scheme is a large engineering project in Western Australia, designed to deliver fresh water from the Yarragadee Aquifer near Perth to the distant goldfields region. Spanning about 560 kilometers, it includes a series of pipes, canals, and reservoirs that transport water to support communities and mining operations in an otherwise dry and arid area. Constructed in the early 20th century, the scheme was vital for sustaining growth in the Goldfields, enabling economic development by providing a reliable water source where rainfall is minimal.
