Gokyo Lakes
The Gokyo Lakes are a series of six high-altitude freshwater lakes located in the Everest region of Nepal. Nestled within the Himalayas, these lakes sit at elevations between 4,700 and 5,000 meters (15,400–16,400 feet). Known for their striking turquoise color, the lakes are fed by glacial melt and are an important part of the local ecosystem. They also hold cultural significance for Sherpa communities and are a popular destination for trekkers exploring the Everest Base Camp route. The lakes offer stunning mountain views and serve as a vital water source in one of the world’s most remote, pristine environments.
