Goaltender
A goaltender, also known as a goalie, is the player responsible for defending the goal in sports like hockey and soccer. Their main job is to prevent the opposing team from scoring by blocking shots with their body, gloves, or pads in hockey, or by catching or directing the ball away in soccer. They often stay close to the goal area, using quick reflexes and positioning to stop the ball or puck. The goaltender wears specialized equipment for protection and to enhance their ability to save shots, making them a critical last line of defense for their team.
