GnRH (gonadotropin-releasing hormone)
Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) is a chemical messenger produced by the brain’s hypothalamus. It signals the pituitary gland to release two important hormones: luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). These hormones then travel to the reproductive organs (testes in men, ovaries in women) to regulate fertility, hormone production, and the menstrual cycle. Essentially, GnRH acts as the starting signal in the hormonal communication that controls reproduction, ensuring the body maintains proper hormone levels for sexual development and function.
