Glyptotherium

Glyptotherium was an extinct genus of large, armored mammals related to armadillos, that lived during the Pleistocene epoch in the Americas. It resembled a massive, heavily armored creature with a rounded shell covering its back and sturdy limbs for walking on land. Glyptotherium was herbivorous, feeding on plants, and could grow to several meters in length. Its thick, protective shell helped defend it against predators. Fossils of Glyptotherium have been found in North and Central America, providing valuable insights into prehistoric ecosystems and the diversity of ancient megafauna.
