Glycated Hemoglobin (A1C)

Glycated Hemoglobin, or A1C, is a blood test that measures the average level of blood sugar (glucose) over the past two to three months. When blood sugar is high, some of it attaches to hemoglobin, a protein in red blood cells. The A1C test indicates how much sugar has attached, helping to assess how well blood sugar levels are being managed. This is important for people with diabetes or at risk of it, as it provides a long-term view of blood sugar control and guides treatment decisions.
