glomerulosclerosis

Glomerulosclerosis is a condition where the tiny filtering units in the kidneys called glomeruli become scarred and damaged. These glomeruli are responsible for filtering waste and excess fluids from the blood. When they develop scars, it reduces the kidney's ability to function properly, which can lead to waste buildup and fluid retention. This damage may result from conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, or other kidney diseases. Over time, glomerulosclerosis can contribute to chronic kidney failure if not managed effectively. Treatment focuses on controlling underlying causes and slowing progression to protect remaining kidney function.
