Global Mountain Biodiversity Assessment
The Global Mountain Biodiversity Assessment (GMBA) is an international effort to study and protect the rich variety of plant, animal, and fungi species that live in mountain regions worldwide. Mountains host unique and diverse ecosystems due to their complex terrains and climates. GMBA aims to understand these ecosystems' importance, how they’re changing with climate and human activities, and to promote sustainable conservation. This knowledge helps ensure that mountain biodiversity is preserved for future generations, supporting ecosystem health, local communities, and global ecological stability.
