Glenoid
The glenoid is a shallow, cup-shaped part of the shoulder blade (scapula) that forms the socket of the shoulder joint. It works with the rounded head of the upper arm bone (humerus) to create a ball-and-socket joint, allowing a wide range of arm movements. The glenoid is lined with cartilage for smooth motion and stabilized by surrounding muscles and ligaments. Its size, shape, and condition are important for shoulder stability and function; damage or injury to this area can lead to pain or dislocation.
