Glaucoma Surgery
Glaucoma surgery is a procedure aimed at lowering eye pressure to prevent damage to the optic nerve, which can lead to vision loss. When medications or laser treatments are insufficient, surgeons may create a new drainage pathway for fluid in the eye, either by removing a small piece of tissue or implanting a device. This helps excess fluid escape, reducing pressure. Common techniques include trabeculectomy and tube shunt surgery. The goal is to preserve vision and maintain eye health, and while recovery varies, many patients experience improved eye pressure control post-surgery.
