Glacial erosion occurs when large glaciers move slowly over land, grinding against rocks and soil beneath them. As they advance, they pick up and carry debris like rocks and gravel, which act like sandpaper, scraping and carving the landscape. This process widens valleys, deepens basins, and shapes features like fjords and U-shaped valleys. The weight and movement of the glacier continually erode the land, gradually transforming the landscape over thousands of years.
