Giovanni F. di Cassini
Giovanni F. di Cassini was an Italian-born astronomer and mathematician, most famous for discovering the Cassini Division, a gap in Saturn’s rings, in 1675. He came from a prominent family of scientists and served as the director of the Paris Observatory. His work advanced our understanding of celestial mechanics, planetary motion, and the structure of planetary rings. Giovanni's contributions helped improve the accuracy of measuring planetary distances and orbits, greatly influencing astronomy. His research laid important groundwork for future space exploration and studies of the solar system.
