Giordano Bruno (crater)

Giordano Bruno is a lunar crater named after the Italian philosopher and astronomer Giordano Bruno. Located on the Moon’s near side, it’s a bowl-shaped impact feature formed by a collision with a space object long ago. The crater has a rim that rises above the surrounding terrain and a central peak, typical of craters of its size. Its relatively young age means it retains sharp features. Named in honor of Bruno’s contributions to science and philosophy, the crater allows scientists to study the Moon’s geological history and impact processes.
