Gill nets

Gill nets are a type of fishing equipment made of fine, strong mesh that hangs vertically in the water. Fish swim into the net and become entangled by their gills or body parts when trying to pass through the holes. The net is designed to catch fish that are close to the size of the mesh openings, making it a selective method. Gill nets can be set in various water environments and are used to harvest different fish species. They can be efficient but also require careful management to minimize unintended catch of non-target species and to reduce environmental impact.
