Gibbon's Paradox
Gibbon's Paradox refers to the idea that, although gibbons are highly skilled and agile primates capable of sophisticated movements, their evolutionary development suggests they have not become larger or more complex over time. In other words, these agile primates thrive with a relatively simple body plan, raising the question of why evolution hasn’t driven them to become bigger or more complex despite their capabilities. The paradox highlights the idea that evolutionary success isn't always linked to increasing size or complexity—sometimes, maintaining specialized adaptations like agility can be more advantageous.
